What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
A delicate mixture between art and science, a chiropractic adjustment is a specific force applied with precise direction to a joint that is not moving properly. This helps to free the fixated joint and allows the bones to gradually return to a more normal position. These safe and natural procedures are designed to:
improve spinal function,
improve nervous system function,
and improve overall health.
Up until now, we’ve only discussed the vertebrae and nerves that make up the spinal column. There are also muscles, ligaments, and tendons attached to the bones of the body. When a vertebrae is subluxated for any length of time, these muscles and connective tissues are resistant to change and have a tendency to pull the vertebrae back into the subluxated position. With each proper adjustment, these connective tissues fight back a little less. Remember that some subluxations have been present since birth; therefore it will take time to repair the problem.
Cira Chiropractic believes in education and we continue that education on a regular basis in order to remain proficient in various techniques. These techniques include the Diversified technique, the Sacro-occipital technique, Activator or instrument adjusting, and the Thompson technique which utilizes specialized drop tables. The technique used to treat your specific situation will be determined by examining your specific needs as well as your physical build, age, and health concerns.
Research has shown the risks of prescription drugs and surgery associated with medical care outweigh those of chiropractic care. Every person is adjusted differently, and each visit constitutes a different adjustment experience based on the needs of the individual and the state of that person’s spine at that moment.
Chiropractic is safe for people of all ages. Our patients range from newborns and children to the elderly and include all ages in between. Cira Chiropractic’s training, education, and treatments take into account how the spine ages and the abnormalities that can come about from old age. We also utilize gentle, delicate adjustments for the fragile spines of newborns and infants.
